The Agriculture Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, represented by the Horticulture Research Institute and the National Program for producing vegetables seeds, and in cooperation with private firms, announced the innovation and introduction of new 15 varieties of tomatoes, out of which 8 varieties were evaluated and and tested, and characterized by its oval and round shapes, its suitability for tastes of various consumers, ability to resist various diseases and adaptability to weather conditions. where production of one fedan may reach from 35 to 40 tons. Minister of Agriculture praised efforts exerted by researchers and workers in the program, and encouraged them for more efforts to innovate and introduce new varieties of different seeds for different vegetables, which will help the Egyptian farmers, and help also to reduce importations of seeds saving the hard currency incurred therein. two varieties out of the 8, are now subject to intellectual property rights formalities
