Koper port, in Slovenia, is one of the most important ports in the , Mediterranean area located to the North of the Adriatic Sea, and to the . south of Tirieste Port in North East Italy. This port serves as an important entry port to many Eastern and Central European Landlocked countries. Koper port was able to handle almost 1.1 Million TEU in the year 2024, with some increase over the previous 2023 with expectation of further increase in 2025 to reach 1.16 Million TEU. The port services as the main gateway to Eastern & Central European countries, specially those who are named landlocked, where they are not overlooking any sea or ocean> As such, the port already has well constructed rail and road network which connects it to many countries including Poland, Austria., Italy ( it is very close to Trieste Port located on the North East part of Italy, ) Hungary, Czech, Slovakia, in addition to some countries in the Balkan region like Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, etc Shipments sailing from the Mediterranean region, and mostly Egypt, use this port for the delivery of shipments to Eastern & Central European landlocked countries.
