Considering the global production of oranges in the major producing countries, and the effect of climate change and citrus greening, HLB, from which no cure till now except uprooting the infected trees - I therefore expect a global shortage over the decade to come unless positive steps are taken to maintain global volumes and/or avoid shortage in production. Here is Egypt also citrus industry is increasing gradually, sharing a part of the orange production, which may affect fresh exports. Therefore, to maintain the markets we already are leading, I recommend increasing orange plantations both Navel and Valencia, in addition to the excellent-quality of the Baladi oranges. As such, we may be able to meet processing needs, and maintain/increase presence in global markets, in addition to bridging the gap in global markets, if any.
